I’ve always been an outsider and being an expat had only made me more so, but I feel like my fictional characters have shown me better ways to manage. My characters are freaks, seers, those who hear voices, and those who whisper in other people’s ears.  They are misfits, all of them, but misfits who’ve embraced their outsider-ness rather than hide it. They exist in worlds where, no matter what they do, they will never fit in, but to a person, they’ve found self-acceptance and peace, each in their own way.  May we all be so blessed.
